The “LIVING IN PARIS” urban ideas competition for students of architecture, urbanism, landscaping, engineering, environment, design and art, is organised by the Paris CAUE (Council for Urban Architecture and the Environment) with the support of the Mairie de Paris, the Pavillon de l’Arsenal, the SEMAVIP, the SIEMP and the SEMIDEP.

Its purpose is to encourage ideas and debate on the issues of housing, density and environmental quality by answering two questions:
> What new urban forms can we invent for housing in the densely populated Paris area?
> What new typologies of habitat can we imagine to meet the needs of Parisians while reconciling density and quality of living?

The ideas competition concerns the planning of lots D and E of the ZAC (Zone d’Aménagement Concertée, mixed development zone) Porte des Lilas. The results will be the object of a vast communication campaign: exhibition at the Pavillon de l’Arsenal, publication on this website, communications by our partners…They will also be used to enrich the plans of the SEMAVIP, in charge of developing the zone, to encourage their integration on the site of the future housing projects the construction of which will start in 2010.
